Summary of game plot
The story takes place in 1926 downtown Phoenix, in the state of Arizona in USA. Barney Daniels has lost his job at the coal mine and he’s returning home to Phoenix. Not being able to face his daughter Coleen, he goes instead to his local speakeasy; Robbie’s Club. Here we meet a few other characters; Robert Freidman, Frances Ripley, Ivory and Dorothy Black. After receiving confirmation that Coleen has a chance to sing at the club and being reminded about the debt he owes Robert, Barney moves on to tell Coleen the good news.
As time passes, Coleen and two other women; Amelia Brown and Lily Sawyer become successful chorus girls at the club. So much so that Frances promises them that they will go far with her help. Their success at the club begins to threaten Dorothy Black’s career there, to the point where they replace her completely. Meanwhile Robert is insistent on collecting the money he lent to Barney, plus interest.  On the night when Coleen gets the spotlight for a solo, Barney suffers from a coughing fit and he goes outside for some air. Robert sees Barney leave and follows him with a baseball bat in hand. After a heated argument Barney and Robert end up fighting and Robert murders him with a baseball bat, leaving him in the alleyway.
Coleen didn’t know about the money Barney owed Robert and so when her father is brutally murdered for no apparent reason there is an air of mystery over his sudden death. Being aware something is not right, Coleen begins to look for answers. Frances hasn’t kept the promises she made to the girls to make them big stars and Coleen seems to be earning less money than she usually does from her performances. It is at this point in the story where Ivory begins to become more involved, being a good friend of Barney’s he too becomes concerned about the real reason to his death. One night Ivory overhears a conversation between Robert and Frances. Ivory overhears that Robert is the one who killed Barney and that he has been taking cuts of Coleen’s earnings even after the debt had been repaid. Having heard all of this, Ivory repeats it to Coleen, insisting that they should do something, however horrified at this news, Coleen flees the club.
That same night, Ivory is angered by the news of Robert being responsible for Barney’s death and plans to confront him after the club closes. Ivory bursts into Robert’s office in the club and confronts him about Barney’s murder. Robert attempts to defend himself but Ivory gets the upper hand and ironically murders Robert with the same bat Robert used to kill Barney. Determined to destroy all traces of Robert Freidman, Ivory sets fire to the club using the copious amounts of flammable alcohol kept in the cellar. Ivory then escapes using Robert’s car.
Leaving the club, Ivory goes to find Coleen at her house. Ivory tells Coleen quickly what has happened and that there’s nothing left for them in Phoenix, nothing holding them back. Coleen reluctantly agrees to leave Phoenix with him and goes inside her house to pack her bags. Meanwhile Frances returns to the club, finding it in flames. Frances promptly leaves without a care, knowing that she never had feelings for Robert and that sticking around would only lead to giving her trouble with the law. Coleen returns to the car with her bags and Ivory starts the car. The story ends with the two of them driving out of Phoenix, neither of them saying a word, Coleen shedding a tear and Ivory cold faced.

Character biographies
Barney Daniels
Barney is a 65 year old widowed coal miner with one daughter, Coleen. He’s an honest man but with his fair share of problems. After his wife’s death, he’s been in the local speakeasy or working hard at the coal mine so that he can help Coleen reach her dreams of becoming a singer.

Coleen Daniels
Coleen has always dreamed of becoming a successful singer. After years of being a secretary, a chance to sing at a speakeasy seems tempting.

Carnell ‘Ivory’ Taylor Jr.
No one has cared enough to learn his real name; to them he’s just the piano player, which is where he earned the name Ivory. His real age is unknown, even to himself. Barney is the only person he’s got in this world close to a friend.

Robert Freidman
After WWI, Robert struggled to find a job. However with the skills he has and his greed for money, he soon found himself working for Al Capone. Eventually he ended up running a speakeasy now known as Robbie’s Club.

Frances Ripley
She’s Robert’s wife but she doesn’t act like it. In a world of men, Frances stands on her own two feet, as long as she’s got some poor sap to do her bidding. She knows talent when she sees it, which is why she’s in charge of the club’s entertainment.

Lily Sawyer
Lily’s a young woman with bad habits, she drinks, she smokes and she knows how to have a good time. When given a chance to sing for the club, she snaps it up.

Amelia Brown
Amelia is naïve and hopeful. She often lets others get their way and avoids conflict at all costs. She wouldn’t normally get involved with a place like Robbie’s Club but it’s the best place in Phoenix to start a singing career.

Dorothy Black
The second reason people go to Robbie’s Club is Dorothy Black. However new talent threatens her long career there.
